It has been a while since I have posted here at the Counselors’ Blog, and I apologize, but I’ve certainly been keeping busy. I promise to do a longer post in the near future but I just wanted to throw a few quick reminders out there today.
First, our priority deadline for transfer students (March 15) is fast approaching. There are several advantages to applying early as a transfer student- you can apply for housing earlier, your financial aid information will be available sooner, etc. The other purpose of the priority deadline is that transfer students who apply by this deadline are given first consideration for our transfer scholarships. We offer a few scholarships for transfer students, but just to be clear, only students transferring from 2-year schools are eligible (but everyone can apply for financial aid through the FAFSA).
Second, for prospective freshmen students, as you begin making the big decision about where you will be heading in the Fall I encourage you to visit your potential colleges. For students who are currently juniors you may want to start making a few college visits as well. Seniors are narrowing down their choices significantly at this time, but for juniors the Spring is a great time to just see your options. If you are interested in visiting UMBC check out this link or see our page with college fairs that UMBC attends.
That is all for me today. As always, let us know if you have questions. Take care!
