Nestled in a cozy, residential area of Catonsville/Baltimore County, UMBC is in an ideal location for so many reasons (Click “UMBC” and just zoom out to see what I am talking about!). Just a few minutes west of UMBC, stretching north and south lies 32 miles of Patapsco Valley State Park with 170 miles of trails and adventure. This is one of my favorite places to get away to and enjoy the great outdoors by taking hikes, mountain biking, and even fishing. When I’m looking to do some people watching, heading about 10 minutes on I-95 north into Baltimore City is incredibly easy to do. The city is filled with activities, deals, and exciting occurrences.
My buddy Pete helps keep us all on top of Baltimore (Bmore) life. “Bmore Interested” is up to date with the happenings and news around Baltimore City. He posts about everything from deals (such as 50% off Papa John’s pizza!), to events of every scale (Caps (hockey) and Oriole’s (baseball) games to the Food Truck Gathering day), as well as simply interesting facts about Baltimore, etc.
From UMBC’s location, personal, social, and cultural activities of all types are super easy to get to and enjoy. On another note, if you are looking for internships, co-ops, and jobs, UMBC is literally a hop, skip and a jump away from I-95 that can not only send you north to Baltimore City in 10 mins yet also south to the nations capital, Washington, D.C in 45 mins. Besides, we have our own UMBC Research & Technology Park which is home to about 50 innovative technology and bio-science companies. Students can be found there in all different roles, sometimes they are even the company founders and owners. You can’t get any more ideal than that.
