It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted, I apologize for the hiatus! I hope everyone has been doing well and that everyone had a wonderful Spring Break.
If you are an admitted student, you may be wondering what comes next?
Registration for Orientation is up and running! You can register by visiting orientation.umbc.edu or through your myUMBC account.
Orientation will include a variety of information for both our new students and their families. You will also select your courses at Orientation for the Fall 2016 semester!
There will be multiple programs throughout the summer so you can sign up for the one that best fits with your summer plans. We also recommend that you take your Placement Tests prior to attending Orientation. Any questions regarding Placement Tests can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
As always, be sure to continue sharing your excitement about UMBC on our social media accounts using the hashtag #UMBCadmit!
Until next time,
Good Afternoon Future Retrievers!
We are two weeks away from one of our favorite events of the year; New Student Day! The invites are out and you can register through your myUMBC account. Be sure to use the registration code sent in your invitation.
We have a plethora of fun activities for you and your families throughout the day. You will have the opportunity to attend information sessions, meet current UMBC students, take a walking tour of the campus or a special interest area, and cheer the Retrievers to victory on the track. The Campus Activity Fair is an opportunity to learn about student clubs, intramural sports, and Retriever Athletics. Additional workshops are offered as well to learn more about becoming a future Retriever.
I want to congratulate all of the admitted students! We can’t wait to see all of you Future Retrievers on Saturday, April 16th!

Hello Future Retrievers!
With the Holiday season vastly approaching us, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions has caught the holiday spirit and bringing about cheer. We recently had our Winter Celebration with all of Enrollment Management Department, and I even had the pleasure of being wrapped up in toilet paper by our very own Assistant Vice Provost of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation, Dale Bittinger, and our Assistant Director of Target Populations, Lori Smith-Watson. It’s not what you think; we were the champions of building a snowman in 2 minutes! I provided the proof below!
I’ve also had the pleasure of coordinating our Take UMBC Home for the Holidays program for its 9th year in a row! UMBC students are nominated by their departments, scholars programs, organizations and clubs, etc. to spread some Retriever Fever while at home for the holidays! For all of my Future Retrievers, be on the lookout for some of our UMBC students to be coming to a high school near you in the next couple of months!!! At our last information session, Dale was able to snap a selfie with some of our participants. It was definitely a sight to see.
Remember that you are always welcome to register for a Black and Gold tour by clicking here, or stop by our office to speak with our On-Call Admissions Counselor. We are open Monday – Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm!

Hello Future Retrievers,
I know it has been a while since I have written on the blog, but I have not forgotten about you! My travel season was an absolute blast, thanks to all of the students, parents, and counselors that took the time to speak with me and learn more about what UMBC has to offer!
I was able to visit over 100 high schools throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey! After each visit, I felt that it would be the perfect time to take a SELFIE with some of my prospective Retrievers!!! The students enjoyed this notion equally as much as I did (okay…maybe not as much) and we were able to get some amazing shots. It would only be right to share them with all of you! You’ll be happy to know that the lighting was absolutely perfect in each shot :)!
Below, you will find only a third of the selfies taken this season in a Flipagram. Yes, you will notice that I chose the Friends theme song for the video! I felt that it directly correlated to how I feel and how everyone feels in the Undergraduate Admissions & Orientation Office; we’ll be there for you!
To view the video, all you have to do is click, here!
I want to thank everyone again for an awesome season! I hope I gave you all some RETRIEVER FEVER!!!
